The Common Cold
The common cold, is a highly contagious, viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory system, Cold viruses are believed to be carried to the back of the throat where they are deposited on the soft lining (mucous membrane) of the nose. The common cold is the most common infectious disease among adults and teens, who have two to four respiratory infections annually. The incidence of colds is higher in the autumn and winter, with most infections occurring between September and April. Although common colds are seasonal experiments so far have failed to produce evidence that short-term exposure to cold weather or direct chilling increases susceptibility to infection, implying that the seasonal variation is instead due to a change in behaviors such as increased time spent indoors at close proximity to others.
Usually, it is a mild condition, recovery taking place within about a week. However, sometimes the same symptoms occur with other illnesses like influenza. Common Cold symptoms are sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and cough; sometimes accompanied by 'pink eye', muscle aches, fatigue, malaise, headaches, muscle weakness, and loss of

The infection is spread by airborne droplets when the sufferer coughs or sneezes.It can also be spread by hand if someone has the virus on their hands and then puts them close to their eyes or nose.
